The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institution or organization and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes.
Our primary purpose is to stay free of marijuana and to help the marijuana addict who still suffers achieve the same freedom. We can do this by practicing our suggested twelve steps of recovery and by being guided as a group by our twelve traditions.
Marijuana Anonymous uses the basic 12 Steps of Recovery founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, because it has been proven that the 12 Step Recovery program works!
How It Works
The 12 Steps. Refer to the MA World Services website for much more info about how this 12-Step Program works especially for stoners.
Who is MA District 12?
District 12 covers Marin and Sonoma Counties and has meetings every day of the week. Here's a schedule of Marin and Sonoma Marijuana Anonymous Meetings.
In addition to our regular 12-step meetings, there is a monthly District 12 meeting. Here the Group Service Representatives (GSRs) from each of the weekly meetings get together to figure out how to best serve those meetings. ALL RECOVERING POTHEADS ARE WELCOME!
Doing service, whether at the weekly meetings or monthly at the District meeting, is a key part of staying clean from marijuana. Addicts tend to isolate; meetings and service are great ways to make new friends in a supportive, non-judgmental environment filled with fellow potheads.
Our District Meeting is on the second Tuesday of every month, at 6PM, at the Petaluma Alano club, 1050 Petaluma Blvd. North, 94952. Come, sit in on a meeting and see how the District works. As a bonus, you can then sit in on the regular Tuesday 12-step meeting in the same building at 7:15PM. Two-for-one: Guaranteed to strengthen your recovery!
"Talk" to other local recovering marijuana addicts via our MA District Online Forum.
Visit ma-phone.org to attend our marijuana anonymous phone meetings. Then spread the word by posting the ma-phone.org flyer in your favorite hang-out places.

MA in the News!
We wanted to share this link to a recent local news story that MA District 11 (Portland, Tigard, & Salem Oregon) participated in. It's awesome, check it out!
NAR-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of relatives and friends of addicts who believe their lives have been affected by someone else's addiction. (NAR is short for narcotics.)
